Job description:
The candidate is required to make furniture or other wood based craft as per the design. The candidate is also expected to understand the 3D design and work with the specification of the design. It is expected that the candidate can make, repair and restore wooden furniture, cabinet and structures.
Entry requirements of this job:
There are no minimum academic requirement to apply for this job. However candidate is expected a degree or equivalent qualification however there is no minimum academic requirement. Significant relevant experience will be preferred.
Tasks required by this job include:
- To examine drawings and specifications to determine appropriate materials.
- To select measure, cuts and shapes wood using saws, chisels, planes, powered hand tools and woodworking machines
- To construct the wooden furniture and cabinets as per the design.
- To liaise with other team member to ensure quality service.
- To assemble parts with crafted joints, nails, screws, dowels or adhesives and fits locks, catches, hinges, castors, drawers, shelves and other fittings;
- To removes, replaces or repairs damaged parts of wooden furniture;
- To measure floor area to be covered and lays wood blocks and hardwood strips.
- To construct furniture, stage, structure, wooden floor by wood blocks, parquet panels, veneer board or plywood sheets.
- To observe Health and Safety rules and be observant of possible hazards in the work
- place
